I developed Ezy Grant Writer as I knew that grant writing could be made easy. I have a background working with charities so I have done my fair share of grant writing and I know the frustrations that can come with grant writing. I thought it would be good to give you some background on me and why my mission became grant writing made easy!
I have always loved working with charities, helping the local communities as well as bigger organizations that make a difference on a larger scale. I began working with charities about nine years ago when I started working with the Lions Club and then found interest in other local charities. Basically, when I see a need within an organization where I feel I can offer my skills, I approach them and make my skills available to them.  I am currently involved with two charities; one local, one international.
My local involvement is with a wonderful organization called Fitted for Work. Through Fitted for Work, we help disadvantaged women return to the workforce by providing them with a fabulous wardrobe of clothing to wear during the interview process. We also work with the ladies to strengthen their interview skills. Overall, our goal is to restore the women’s confidence in themselves and help them transition back to the working world. Many of the women have really had it tough for a number of reasons and they have struggled to regain confidence to get back to work. This charity allows me to use by business skills to set up databases so the organization can keep up with volunteers and just stay organized. I want them to work smart and not hard.
I am also involved in another charity that has an international focus. I am the communications director for the Grey Man organization, which fights against child trafficking in Thailand.  We work hard to raise awareness about the issue and we hold fund raising events and work with the media to keep our mission out there.
I have always had a great passion for helping people and making a difference in many lives. I love that I can use my skills to support charities and organizations who work so hard. Eventually, my goal is to become a career philanthropist and devote my life to helping organizations and supporting their causes. I hope that the Ezy Grant Writer software can help me charities with grant writing made easy.

When learning how to write a grant there are a few common problems people will experience while working through the grant writing process. It is essential that before you begin the journey, you have a good understanding of the purpose of writing a grant and the preparation process. It is not a difficult thing to learn but it does require some time and a lot of persistence.

When getting started, one of the biggest problems most people experience is writer’s block. Looking at the blank page and wondering where to start can be difficult. This is one of the reasons I created the Ezy Grant Writing program. It will help you beat writer’s block and get started on expanding your ideas. The program gives you questions worksheets which allow you and your team to work through the questions and formulate your plan for the proposal. It is grant writing made easy.

Probably the next most common difficulty people experience in the grant writing process is targeting the potential grant makers. Not every company will offer funding for every kind of organization. The grant makers are the source of monies received via the grant and so they all have very specific criteria that varies from group to group. Understanding the criteria set for each group is a huge part of the process because if the requirements are not followed exactly, your organization runs the risk of immediate rejection no matter how solid the rest of your presentation is. The Ezy Grant Writer program aids in this process by asking a number of questions relating to your eligibility for receiving the grant. Because the process of grant writing is so time consuming, the last thing you want to do is waste time on an incompatible grant making organization.

Some people will struggle with the language and the actual content of the grant. Using a program like the Ezy Grant Writer, you are able to simply answer some questions and have that content turned into a really professional grant proposal. Because I went through the entire process of writing a grant on my own before coming up with the idea for a program, I quickly learned the ins and outs of what works and what doesn’t. That experience enabled me to make a complete program that anticipates what is expected and what works.

Overall, it takes work to put together a professional proposal and that is really what you want - a professional and complete proposal that precisely follows the guidelines of the grant makers. Learning how to write a grant and overcome the common problems with grant writing is not the most impossible task and it absolutely does have it rewards in the end result.

When asked how to write a grant, I first look at identifying the grant writing process. The first important thing to remember when starting a grant writing project is there is no rule that you have to do it alone. Even if you are the person who has to handwrite the grant, you can also establish small teams to tackle different portions of the grant.

When establishing these teams, start by electing a great organizer to keep the project running smoothly. If the organizer also happens to be a great writer who knows how to put words together, then it is even better. Once the organizer has been established, consider the other parts of the process, such as the budget and other number figures. If there is not a team member who specializes in accounting, perhaps a local accountant can be persuaded to help with that section of the grant. When submitting a grant proposal, there are also a number of documents that need to be attached. You might want to appoint one person to be in charge of gathering and organizing the necessary documents.

It is important to keep in mind that the team you establish to work through the grant writing process also has deep understanding about the charity or organization for which you are seeking the funding. Grant makers are going to be asking some very detailed questions during the process and you need to be really prepared to give them exactly the information they are looking for about your organization. Grant makers establish certain eligibility criteria and it is critical that you stay within those guidelines while you construct the proposal. Any deviation from the set guidelines could result in the instant rejection of your proposal without the grant makers so much as reading a sentence of your proposal. You may have created the most perfect submission and have the most wonderful charity but if you submit 6 pages rather than the required 5, your proposal may not even be opened.

When you are seeking grant makers, it is important for your own sake that you read the requirements and criteria for each company, otherwise you may end up wasting your time on creating a proposal to someone who does not provide funding for your type of organization. As you work through the process, you will soon find that patience and persistence is key to producing successful a proposal. There is a lot of competition for funding and you should be prepared to approach a number of organizations for funding.

If you find that you have to go it alone, using a tool like the Ezy Grant Writer allows you to stay on task and work through the different sections in an organized way. In the event you do have to approach other organizations with different criteria, the program allows you to tweak the basic information in a way that meets the new requirements of a different grant maker. The best advice I have for people wanting to know how to write a grant is that remaining persistent and positive will be half of the process and if you can stay on top of things and do it with a smile, you will eventually find the results you are looking for during the grant writing process.
